Venezuela, emerged victorious at the 2017 Little League Baseball® Latin America Region Championship in Barranquilla, Columbia, defeating Falcón Little League of Cartagena, Colombia, 8-0, on Saturday, July 22. Eight teams participated in the eight-day event in Barranquilla, Colombia.
This will be the 19th appearance in Williamsport by a team from Venezuela, and the third time in the last four years that Venezuela earns the honor to represent the Latin America Region. Including this year, a team from Maracaibo has made the Little League Baseball World Series 14 times dating back to 1965 and has won the world championship in both 1994 and 2000.

Luz-Maracaibo Little League finished the Latin America Region tournament with an unblemished 7-0 record as the entire event featured great plays, competitive games, and outstanding sportsmanship. The first-round pairings for the 2017 Little League Baseball World Series were drawn and announced on Thursday, June 15. Luz-Maracaibo Little League will open the 2017 Little League Baseball World Series with a first-round matchup against Guadalupe Treviño Kelly Little League of the Mexico Region at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 17. Spanning the course of 10 days, 32 games will be played in the 2017 Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, culminating in the Championship Game, which is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 27.
