Tokyo Kitasuna Little League emerged victorious at the 2017 Little League Baseball® Japan Region Championship, defeating Chibashi Little League, 17-0, in the final game on Sunday, July 23. A total of 16 teams participated in the tournament in Tokyo, Japan.
This will be the sixth time overall and third time in the last four years that Tokyo Kitasuna Little League represents Japan in Williamsport. Of those five previous visits, Tokyo Kitasuna Little League has won the Little League Baseball World Series three times (2001, 12, 15) and finished as the runner-up in 2007. This will be the 28th time a team from Japan has competed at the Little League Baseball World Series in South Williamsport, gaining direct entry into the tournament in 2007.

The first-round pairings for the 2017 Little League Baseball World Series were drawn and announced on Thursday, June 15. Tokyo Kitasuna Little League will begin the 2017 Little League Baseball World Series with a first-round matchup against Hills Little League of the Australia Region on Friday, August 18, at 2 p.m. Spanning the course of 10 days, 32 games will be played in the 2017 Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, culminating in the Championship Game, which is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 27.
