Lufkin Little League, from Lufkin, Texas, captured the 2017 Little League Baseball® southwest Regional tournament by defeating McAllister Park National Little League, from San Antonio, Texas, 2-1.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Texas East pitchers struck out eight, while Texas West sat down nine.
Texas East took an early lead in the first inning. Hunter Ditsworth drove in one when he homered in the first inning.

Hunter earned the win for Texas East. He tossed five innings, giving up one run, four hits, striking out eight, and walking one. Chip Buchanan recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Texas East. Brennan Greer took the loss for Texas West. He pitched one inning, giving up one run, one hit, striking out one, and walking zero.
Cade Smith started the game for Texas-West. He pitched five innings, allowing one run, five hits, striking out eight, and walking zero.
Home runs for Texas-East came when Hunter homered in the first inning and Clayton Wigley homered in the sixth inning.
Lucas Gary, Carson Winchester, Brennan, and Kody Copeland each managed one hit to lead Texas-West. Texas-West was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Levi Castilleja made the most plays with nine.
