Southwest beat Great Lakes 5-1 on the opening day of the Little League Baseball® World Series.
Southwest scored four runs in the third inning. Southwest scored on a home run by Hunter Ditsworth, a home run by Collin Ross, and a home run by Clayton Wigley.
Hunter earned the win for Southwest. He pitched six innings, surrendering one run, two hits, striking out eight, and walking zero. Jack Jones took the loss for Great Lakes. He tossed two and two-thirds innings, surrendering four runs, five hits, striking out five, and walking zero.

Home runs for Southwest came when Clayton homered in the third inning, Hunter homered in the third inning, and Collin homered in the second and third innings.
Southwest had seven hits in the game. Hunter and Collin each collected multiple hits for Southwest. Collin and Hunter all had two hits to lead Southwest.
Great Lakes was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ryan Jones had the most chances in the field with ten.
