For the second time in three years, Los Bravos de Pontezuela Little League from the Dominican Republic will head to Williamsport to represent the Caribbean Region after defeating the representatives from Aruba, 8-4, on Thursday, July 13, in the 2017 Little League Baseball® Caribbean Region Championship in Saint John, Antigua. During its last visit to the Little League Baseball World Series in 2015, Los Bravos de Pontezuela Little League finished 1-2 with a 7-3 consolation game victory over the representatives of the Northwest Region.
With the victory, Los Bravos de Pontezuela Little League secures the third of 16 spots at the 2017 Little League Baseball World Series, joining Hills Little League from Sydney, Australia, and Seoul West Little League from Seoul, South Korea.

This will be the ninth appearance for the Dominican Republic in Williamsport, dating back to 1978. The country’s best finish came in 1983 when Liquito Hernandez Little League from Barahona, finished as the World Series Runners-Up to East Marietta (Ga.) National Little League.

The first-round pairings for the 2017 Little League Baseball World Series were officially drawn on Thursday, June 15, where it was announced that the Caribbean Region will take on Asia-Pacific Region in Game Seven on Friday, August 18, at 6 p.m. in Volunteer Stadium. Spanning the course of 10 days, 32 games will be played in the 2017 Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, culminating in the Championship Game, which is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 27.
