Southwest Region Wins United States Championship Game

Saturday's game against Southwest was a heartbreaker for Southeast, as they lost the lead late in a 6-5 defeat. Southwest trailed 5-4 in the top of the sixth inning when Mark Requena homered off of Chase Anderson, driving in two runs.

Southeast lost despite out-hitting Southwest eight to six.

Southeast scored three runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by JoeJoe Byrne and a groundout by Chase Anderson.

Chip Buchanan earned the win for Southwest. He threw one and one-third innings, giving up zero runs, zero hits, striking out two, and walking zero. Chase took the loss for Southeast. He pitched one and one-third innings, allowing three runs, two hits, striking out one, and walking zero.

Collin Ross started the game for Southwest. He tossed four and two-thirds innings, surrendering five runs, eight hits, striking out five, and walking zero. Carson Hardee started the game for Southeast. He went four and two-thirds innings, surrendering three runs, four hits, striking out nine, and walking zero.

Home runs for Southwest came when Clayton Wigley homered in the fourth inning and Mark Requena homered in the sixth inning.

Bryce Jackson and JoeJoe each drove in two runs to lead Southeast.
