Southwest Region Advances to United States Championship Game

Southwest grabbed an early lead on its way to a 14-4 victory over New England on Thursday. Southwest scored on a home run by Collin Ross, a stolen base , an error, and a single by Malcolm Deason in the first inning.

Southwest secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the first inning. Southwest's big inning was driven by a home run by Collin Ross, a stolen base , a error, and a single by Malcolm Deason.

Southwest took an early lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning Collin drove in three runs when he homered.

Mark Requena earned the win for Southwest. He tossed four and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs, four hits, and striking out seven. Matthew Vivona took the loss for New England. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs, eight hits, and striking out three.

Home runs for New England came when Matthew homered in the fifth inning and Michael Iannazzo homered in the third inning.

Southwest had 13 hits in the game. Chip Buchanan, Collin, and Christian Mumphery each collected multiple hits for Southwest. Christian, Collin, and Chip each managed two hits to lead Southwest. Southwest was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Chandler Spencer made the most plays with four.

Michael led New England with two runs batted in. He went 1-for-2 on the day.
